A developing situation.
🍳 BREAKFAST
Sno’ entered a poetry contest.
The rules were simple:
- Write a poem.
- Stay on theme.
The theme was:
Reflections.
Sno’ nodded.
Sno’ understood.
Sno’ wrote the word Reflections at the top of the page.
This was the last confirmed sighting of the premise.
Her poem was titled:
Midwest Reflections in a Parking Lot
Which technically demonstrated awareness of the assignment.
This awareness lasted approximately seven words.
The poem began:
I saw my reflection in a puddle today,
but it was mostly a potato.
The judges continued reading.
This was their first mistake.
💥 MIC DROP
“A premise is just a spoiler for creativity.”
One judge underlined potato twice.
🥪 LUNCH
By stanza two, the poem contained:
- Wisconsin,
- suspicious weather,
- a canoe,
- a cheese stick contemplating freedom,
- and tomatoes described as emotionally unavailable.
A judge raised a hand.
“What inspired this poem?”
Sno’ looked at the paper.
Then at the judge.
Then back at the paper.
“I was hoping you could tell me.”
The judge asked whether the canoe was a metaphor.
Sno’ considered this.
“Probably.”
Nobody wrote that down.
Everybody should have.
💥 MIC DROP
“If I knew what this meant, I’d have written an email.”
The judging panel requested a short break.
🚨 BREAKING NEWS
During intermission, the Seven Dwarves unionized.
Their demands included:
- snack breaks,
- rhyme transparency,
- safer working conditions around metaphors,
- and advance notice before being inserted into unrelated literary events.
Negotiations were successful.
Nobody knows why they were at the poetry contest.
They don’t either.
🍽️ DINNER
The other contestants submitted elegant poems about memory.
Loss.
Identity.
Time.
Sno’ reached the philosophical portion of hers:
Maybe it’s all a metaphor.
Maybe it’s just cheese.
Maybe I’m the reflection
and the rest of the world is the puddle.
The room became quiet.
Not because anyone understood it.
Because, for approximately six seconds, everyone became concerned that Sno’ had accidentally written something profound.
Then she continued:
Because sometimes the deepest reflections
aren’t found in a mirror…
but in a grocery cart,
at 2:17 PM,
with a potato that understands you.
Concern resolved.
🏛️ CONGRESS GETS INVOLVED
Nobody invited Congress. Nobody ever invites Congress.
Congress arrived anyway.
A committee was formed to determine whether the potato qualified as symbolism.
A subcommittee was formed to determine whether Wisconsin had consented to being argued with by clouds.
The metaphor was subpoenaed.
The metaphor declined to testify.
Sno’ requested clarification on whether this affected her score.
Nobody knew.
💥 FINAL MIC DROP
“I may have forgotten the premise, but the premise clearly wasn’t committed to the relationship either.”

“Interesting.”
Another said:
“Please explain.”
A third simply said:
